__________

Overnight operations were surprisingly fruitful. In Tripsrath in the west and Prummern in the east stalled out battalions were able to press forward within their respective towns. However, this only occurred because I changed their orders from Attack to Move. I believe that Move was successful because it appeared to be a “safer” option for the unit (I will experiment and explore this more in a future Tactics Talk). In AO Links, CA-B is still unlikely to be successful but I have not abandoned the objective of retaking Rischden  and Hochheid. In AO Rechts, CA-C is successfully disrupting the allies on the right bank of the Wurm and will hopefully relieve the pressure on the embattled units in Prummern while also attacking towards the battle positions in the south, including the town of Hunshoven.

AO Links

Two battalions, 351 and II/10, are slowly moving south through Tripsrath with plans for follow up operations into Rischden. Rischden is occupied by a single, dug-in and routed squad (11 men) of the 1218th. The squad does not have any current or resent sightings in the town. This lack of activity leads me to assume that the enemy units here are digging in. East of Rischden and south of Tripsrath is Hochheid, elements of the III/104 are fighting in the town, however a heathy company of 16 Shermans, including 4 Fireflies, is opposed to them and likely to make this the hardest fought battle of this area for the rest of today.

Units all over. Are the allies in Tripsrath still in supply?

AO Rechts

CA-C launched from Suggerath, across the Wrum, and towards Hunshoven has been very successful. Multiple allied units are at risk of being surrounded or routed across the front here. III/102 in Prummern has pressed approximately halfway into the town. I plan to conduct a 1–2-hour long artillery barrage against the southern part of Prummern to soften up the defenders. CA-C will continue to bypass Prummern and attack Hunshoven.

The successful of the German breakthrough towards Hunshoven is critical to success in AO Rechts.

Battle Positions: Quadrat and Achteck

Once Hunshoven is secure, my main objective for the evening, my units will finally attempt to establish BP Quadrat. I already have two companies operating here to feel out the level of resistance I may face. BP Achteck is still under immense pressure. Hopefully, CA-C’s right hook after Hunshoven is helpful.

Will the Germans reach their southern most objective and turn defending into attacking?
