The Costly Clipper - Axis - AAR D2 1900

I'm not going to sugar coat it, everything is stalling out. The units assigned to form up in Tripsrath for CA-B and in Prummern for CA-A (now abandoned along with BP Quadrat) have bogged down trying to hold their form up points (FUPs) in the edge of the towns. Most of their subordinates are in retreat recovery. I'm hoping that they can attempt press on over night or in the morning. I may have made a fatal mistake placing the FUPs in the actual towns.

The Win-Lose gauge and objective scoring provides valuable insights into how I can still obtain victory, likely limited to a minor one. When I control Geilenkirchen, I am in the Win zone and when I lose control it flips into Lose. I am going to use this knowledge to plan for the remainder of the fight. If I can hold Geilenkirchen and Suggerath, as well as retake Prummern and Tripsrath, I may be able to lock in the Win. CA-C will hopefully pull pressure off of Prummern and allow me to move a couple of extra units into or near Geilenkirchen.

Win conditions are based on my ability to hold and retake critical towns.

The defenders near Geilenkirchen are now fully withdrawn back into the city. I am going to order them to defend with max ROF and aggression.

Geilenkirchen is holding and will need to transition to a more active defense if I am to keep it.

In AO Links II/10, like it's sister battalion in Prummern, formed up inside of it's objective town. I probably shouldn't have been this aggressive in hind sight as the battalion was immediately engaged before it could launch it's attack. However, I really wanted the units inside of the town. I'm hoping over night II/10 can rally and grind south. Companies in Rischfen will likely break in the next 12 hours. I have a battalion from launching an attack on Hochheid from the forests to its northeast.

AO Links is looking to rally it's forces over the next 12 hours and then attempt to continue to fight south.

I'm worried that AO Rechts might fall if elements of 9 Div and I/10 in Prummern can't pull themselves together. It is possible that CA-C might not pull pressure off of the town, either because it won't make contact with those units or it may get hung up just like the other counterattacks. I at least need I/10 to get into the objective zone.

I/10 needs to move out and get into the objective area!

Depending on how the night goes I may skip the next 12-hour update at 0700. I think there will be a lot of retreat recovery resting going on. Stay tuned to see how the night ops go!
