The Costly Clipper - Axis - AAR D2 0700

I have been more active in issuing orders the night of D1 and into the morning of D2 in an attempt to halt the Allied advance and set conditions for successful counterattacks on D2. Battalions in both Niederheide and Rischden are actively attempting to secure their respective towns. In Tripsrath, the newly arrived 10 Regt HQ and II/10 are forming up for CA-B.

Things are still looking rough in AO Rechts. 9 Div HQ and I/10 on their way to Prummern to prepare to assault west towards Trips. If successful, 9 Div will destroy or drive back the units assaulting Suggerath. When they arrive, the whole of 15 Div, including the 104 Regt, will move along the Wurm River in AO Links and conduct the newly planned CA-C across the Wrum at the bridges in either Trips or Suggerath. I would still like to establish BP Quadrat but am willing to stop short if resistance is fierce.

AO Links is holding steady while units AO Rechts is being pummeled by the Allies. 15 Div will be committed immediately upon arrival and strike across the Wrum into the southern FLOT (forward line of own troops).

Units assigned to CA-B are forming up in Tripsrath to begin attacking south to clear BP Kreis and secure the three objective towns. 351 and 1218 Regts will be relieved, rested, and then ordered to press west towards their original objective.

II/10, Led by 10 Regt HQ, is nearly ready to begin their attack south through the eastern edge of BP Kreis.

CA-B is slightly behind schedule. 10 Div HQ and I/10 are still road marching towards Prummern. Once they arrive they will launch the attack against the Allies and hopefully ease the pressure on the Wurm crossings north of Geilenkirchen.

The strategic reserve is now part of CA-C which will attempt a critical counterattack from the left bank of the Wurm and attempt to push the Allies back south of the major highway.

Units in AO Rechts are under threat of being wedged against the Wurm river. The planned counterattacks can not come soon enough for these exhausted units.

Geilenkirchen is holding firm. Units in BP Achtek, the city itself, have still not been given new orders since the Allies launched their attack. Only two companies have retreated from their entrenchments. I'm quite pleased with how the battle is playing out.

The Allies have yet to break into Geilenkirchen. It is currently assessed that the attacks north and east of the city are shapping operations preceding a larger attack on the city.

Under the cover of darkness, I ordered a lone company from the 330th to probe this village in the southeast. They didn't report any enemy activity so I ordered them to move north to continue reconnaissance operations. Lo and behold an enemy base was there and was reported after sunrise! I now have the company returning to verify the unit type and destroy it.

3.330 Company rear platoon to forward scouts, "Halt the advance, I think we just bypassed an enemy command post!"
