The Costly Clipper - Axis - AAR Primer D1 0700

Welcome to the first AAR post of the blog. Today I am presenting my initial defense plan as the Axis player in The Costly Clipper scenario of the Westwall DLC. Looking at the battlefield, I think my Germans will be conducting a fighting withdrawal while awaiting day two reinforcements. That's a lot of American and British units. I anticipate that the Allies will focus their attack on isolating and then assaulting Geilenkirchen from the southeast and west. Because of this I am focusing my reinforcing the town and keeping my lines relatively stable. Additional German units will begin arriving on Day 2 so my first day will be focused on tactical withdraws, keeping contact with the enemy and maintaining intelligence on enemy locations. During the night of D1 I will attempt limited counter attacks to fix the enemy. Previous Series AARs Part 1 The Costly Clipper - Axis - AAR Primer Part 2 The Costly Clipper - Axis - AAR D1 1900 __________ I have been more active in issuing orders the night of D1 and into the morning of D2 in an attempt to halt the Allied advance and set conditions for successful counterattacks on D2. Battalions in both Niederheide and Rischden are actively attempting to secure their respective towns. In Tripsrath, the newly arrived 10 Regt HQ and II/10 are forming up for CA-B. Things are still looking rough in AO Rechts. 9 Div HQ and I/10 on their way to Prummern to prepare to assault west towards Trips. If successful, 9 Div will destroy or drive back the units assaulting Suggerath. When they arrive, the whole of 15 Div, including the 104 Regt, will move along the Wurm River in AO Links and conduct the newly planned CA-C across the Wrum at the bridges in either Trips or Suggerath.
